Sikkim: India's Himalayan Jewel
Sikkim, is situated in the eastern Himalayas of India. This little state borders Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet and somehow manages to contain a whole world of wonder in a space less than the outskirts of many cities. Search anywhere; here Kangchenjunga guards Sikkim. Snow-covered ridges flow into deep valleys. The alpine lakes are placid and shiny in the sun. Monasteries, encircled by prayer flags, echoed with centuries-old chants carried on the wind. Sikkim also became the first state in India to become completely organic. No chemicals in the soil and no shortcuts in the fields. It is a place that ‘took its time’ to get things right.

- Best Time to Visit Sikkim
- September to mid-December is also a decent time to take a Sikkim vacation in winter. You will find clear, pleasant, and pleasurable weather and the best views of the mountains.
- Avoid Sikkim tours in July and August as there are frequent landslides during this period.
- Additionally, the weather is very cold in late December, January and February, when roads may be closed due to heavy snow and landslides.
- How to Reach Sikkim
By Air: Fly into Pakyong Airport near Gangtok, though flight frequency is limited; Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal (about 4-5 hours from Gangtok by road) is the most commonly used gateway.
By Train: The nearest major railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), which is well connected with the major cities of India, and then a road trip to Gangtok.
By Road: Shared jeeps or private jeep services run from Siliguri and NJP to Gangtok. Permit checking is done on the way to North Sikkim.
