Planning a Kerala Family Package? SCS Journeys keeps the pace easy – this isn’t a trip where you’re rushing from one stop to the next. You’ll land in Kochi first, get lost a bit in its old streets and fishing nets, then climb up into Munnar where the air actually cools down and tea gardens stretch out further than you’d expect. After that comes Thekkady, and honestly the spice plantations there smell like nothing you’ll have come across before. The trip winds down on a houseboat in Alleppey, just drifting through the backwaters – for a lot of families, that’s the day everyone talks about afterward.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kochi

Someone will be waiting at the airport to pick you up. You can explore the area around Fort Kochi after some rest. You can go see the Chinese fishing nets; it looks beautiful during sunset. You will see a lot of Portuguese and Dutch influences in the old streets. Later in the evening, watch a performance of Kathakali. This will help your children become curious about Kerala before the next stage of the trip begins. Overnight in Kochi.

Day 02 :

Kochi to Munnar

Have your breakfast, then hit the road forMunnar, which will take about four hours, as the scenery keeps getting greener the higher up you go. There are some waterfalls and viewpoints along the route, and that is good news if you have children who are hyperactive and cannot sit through long drives in the car. You will reach Munnar by the evening; it will welcome you with tea estates covering the hills all around you. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 03 :

Munnar Sightseeing

Today's for actually exploring Munnar. Begin with a tea museum, and there you will know the process of making tea leaves into what you sip every morning as tea. Next stop would be Mattupetty Dam, and if the waters are not rough on that particular day, there is a boat ride option too. Take a walk around Eravikulam National Park in the evening, which is the home of the NilgiriTahr, a mountain goat found only here. Stay overnight at Munnar.

Day 04 :

Munnar to Thekkady

Your next destination is Thekkady, where the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and the best of Kerala’s spice country can be found. In the afternoon, your guide will take you around a functioning spice plantation – cardamom, pepper, cinnamon trees, all in view and accompanied by an explanation of what’s going on. There’s enough engagement here for the children to stay interested instead of getting bored. Overnight stay in Thekkady.

Day 05 :

Thekkady to Alleppey

Head toward Alleppey, and you'll check into your houseboat by early afternoon. This tends to be the day people remember longest - quietly gliding through the backwaters, watching village life unfold from the deck, coconut trees lining the water on both sides. Meals are cooked fresh right there on board, so there's nothing to plan for once you're settled in. Overnight on the houseboat.

Day 06 :

Alleppey to Kovalam

After breakfast on the boat, you'll disembark and drive down to Kovalam for a bit of a change of scenery - sun, sand, the Arabian Sea. It's a good day to just slow down, relax on the beach, and let the last few busy days settle in. Overnight in Kovalam.

Day 07 :

Departure

After a relaxed check-out, you'll be transferred to Trivandrum International Airport. By this point you'll have gone from hill country to backwaters to coastline, with a good dose of Kerala's culture and wildlife somewhere in between.
